What We Collect and Why

Essential for Personalization:

  • Child's first name and age for appropriate responses

  • Conversation themes and emotional responses (fully anonymized)

  • Activity completion and progress patterns

What We Never Collect:

  • Full names, addresses, or contact information

  • School names, teacher information, or academic records

  • Biometric data, photos, or detailed personal information

  • Location data, device identifiers, or browsing history

  • Any information not directly related to emotional learning

How We Protect Your Child

Data Encryption: All information encrypted both in transit and at rest

No Third-Party Sharing: Child data never shared with advertisers, marketers, or external companies

Ad-Free Environment: No advertisements, pop-ups, tracking pixels, or commercial content

Content Safety: Every conversation reviewed by licensed child development experts

Parental Control: Parents maintain complete control over accounts, data, and access

Regular Security Audits: Ongoing third-party security assessments and updates

AI Safety and Therapeutic Standards

Our conversational AI includes multiple safety layers designed specifically for children:

  • Responses trained exclusively on child-appropriate emotional support content

  • No ability to access external websites, social media, or outside contact

  • Conversations limited to emotional learning, skill-building, and positive reinforcement

  • Human oversight of all AI training data and response patterns

  • Regular review by child psychologists and educational experts

Data Retention

We retain student data only for as long as necessary to provide our services:

  • Student records (name, student ID, school ID): Retained for the duration of the student's enrollment at the participating school, or until deletion is requested by the school or a parent/guardian.

  • Emotion check-in and daily mood data: Retained for the duration of the student's active account.

  • Voice recordings: Processed in real-time to facilitate activity interactions and are not persistently stored.

  • Voice enrollment profiles: Retained until the student's account is deleted or removal is requested.

  • Custom character data: Retained until deleted by the student or until the student's account is removed.

Data Deletion

Parents, legal guardians, and authorized school administrators may request deletion of a student's personal data at any time by emailing ryo@wiillow.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request." Please include the student's first name, student ID, and school name, along with verification of your parental or administrative authority. We will process deletion requests within 30 days and confirm completion by email. Deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
